UAV Manufacturing

Clogworks Technologies is a UAV manufacturer based in the United Kingdom, offering modular and adaptable high precision engineered carbon fibre monocoque multirotors.

We design, manufacture, assemble and fully test all our products in-house to maximise quality and precision.

Clogworks® specialise in delivering high precision engineered aerial drones to companies involved in industrial, security and environmental applications.

We can supply customers with commercially-off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions or more tailored solutions to suit specific requirements

of professional remote pilots operating in complex environment..

OFF-THE-SHELF DRONES

We offer a quadcopter and hexacopter as COTS UAV platforms: our Dark Matter® qD Gen 2 and Dark Matter® hX Gen 2 multirotors.

These two aerial drones benefit from years of experience (the first generation hX was launched in 2016) and refinement

from in-house continuous improvement initiatives and valuable customers' feedback.

These two versatile airframes can easily carry a wide range of payloads and sensors to meet your specific requirements.

 In-House Manufacturing Capabilities

CADCAM Software

At Clogworks, not only do we use CADCAM software at the design stage of our products, we also use it for test simulation, producing and processing CNC machined parts (aluminium and carbon)

and 3D printing.

We can check the tooling path of the CNC machine before mould production for example, ensure accuracy and repeatability of each parts processed, and check that precision engineered components produced fit the overall design in the best possible way.

CNC Machining

CNC machining is used for aluminium mould making, jigs and fixtures to allow for the carbon fibre elements of our unmanned aerial vehicle airframes to be consistent and ultra precise.

We also use the computer-aided machining (CAM) process to manufacture aircraft grade aluminium fittings and to process composites parts further.

We have in-house capability for 3-axis and 4-axis CNC machining.

Carbon Production

We use state-of-the-art pre-preg carbon reinforced composites to make our unique and aerodynamic shaped core, booms and landing gear as light as possible for the strength needed

for day-to-day operation in the field.

Our composites engineers' expertise combined with CNC machining and further processing of the raw parts then ensure consistency of production.

This precision is essential as all our cores, booms, lids and landing gears

can be replaced like-for-like on an aircraft.

3D Printing

Additive manufacturing or 3D printing is used in our production process for small parts of the aircraft or to embellish a payload casing, for example. These parts can also be structural but mainly play a role in the overall aesthetic and weatherproofing of the aircraft.

At Clogworks, we have the facilities to print resins of different types, opacity and strength. We have a range of 3D printers in-house: we can use a carbon and resin 3D printer based on the Continuous Fibre Reinforcement (CFR) process with micron layer accuracy, a more traditional printer based on SLA process using photosensitive resin, or a thermoplastic filament type

depending on the finish we are after.

Parts Testing

At Clogworks, we use a range of testing methods to ensure  our aircraft are airworthy and of the ultimate quality.

We routinely conduct a set of tests to ensure each part of our aircraft is manufactured  to withstand real-world operations  for a long period of time.

Here you can see a stress test that is conducted in a controlled environment for 200 hours with magnitude of forces applied far beyond what would ever be experienced in real flight conditions.

Some tests have specifically been developed from our expertise to  help us  define  aircraft operating windows, as well as inspection and maintenance schedules..

Assembly

Over the years, we have assessed many drivetrain configurations, autopilots and accessories. We have accumulated lots of flight time on the current set-ups, which are optimised for our aircraft.

At Clogworks, we have the expertise to assemble all electronics and mechanical parts of our Dark Matter® UAV platforms and fine-tune them to get optimised performance.

Final Testing

At Clogworks, customers' satisfaction is our priority.

We conduct full flight tests and flight logs analysis before each aircraft is released.

This includes some indoor tests, first on the bench, then on an indoor purpose built "dyno"

to assess response to input in a safe and  controlled environment.

Finally each aircraft is field tested with a minimum of sixty minutes

flight time in various conditions.

Shipping

We are shipping worldwide* and have the expertise to comply with export requirements

and lithium battery shipping.

We use recognised courier to ensure your goods arrive safely to destination,

ready for your operations.
