UAV Engineer with Software Skills

We are seeking an experienced UAV Engineer to prototype drone platforms and flight test systems. This will include the integration of new sensors and technologies, and development of software for flight control and operations.
This role will transition from prototyping to commercially ready products.

Essential skills and experience
• Degree in an applicable engineering field (UAV, Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Software, Mechanical), or equivalent work experience
• Experience working on real-world robot systems in a lab or in industry
• Experience and interest in operating unmanned systems
• Hands-on experience of PX4/Cube hardware and software with proven results
• Experience tuning and flying UAVs with PX4/Cube hardware
• Integration of 3rd party sensor systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Responsibility for your own and others Heath, Safety and Welfare

Desirable skills and experience
• 2+ years of practical cross-platform software engineering experience with C, C++ or Python
• Experience with Linux operating system
• Experience with Solidworks software
• Product development experience

You will also
• Be a self-starter, with minimal oversight needed to complete assignments
• Be able to deliver on time to a high standard 
• Be a genuine problem solver with a hands-on and can-do attitude
• Excel at finding relevant information to solve complex issues involving software components distributed across multiple processors interacting with a range of sensors

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing and assembling systems that enable machines to operate with little to no operator support.

Lead/Senior UAV Engineer

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Lead/Senior UAV Engineer to build and develop in-house designed UAVs and sub-systems with extensive knowledge of relevant state-of-the-art electronics and payloads.

Essential skills and experience
• At least 3 years experience building tailored UAVs for different applications 
• Technical skills relating to UAVs construction, testing, maintenance and repair 
• Must be able to integrate a range of payload sensors, gimbals and cameras
• Good knowledge and experience of Cube autopilots and associated software
• Good knowledge of relevant RF and electronics/ power interaction
• Drone pilot for at least 3 years 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Attention to detail / meticulous
• Responsibility for your own and others Health, Safety and Welfare

Desirable skills and experience
You will ideally also have the following skills and experience: 
• Excellent understanding of UK and EASA drone regulations
• Experience in UAV training, either commercially or in the military
• Industry-specific experience, e.g. surveying, thermography, media, agriculture, etc.
• Knowledge of aerospace standards, CE marking and other relevant certifications
• Experience in BVLOS operations
• Degree or equivalent level qualification in science/related subject preferred but not essential
