How is the Remote-ID identifier unique?
Each drone operator has a unique Remote-ID assigned to them by the National Aviation Authority of their country. In the UK, it can be found by logging onto your DMARES UK CAA Operator page.
The format of the Remote-ID number follows the standard EN 4709-002:2023, part of the Aerospace series - Unmanned Aircraft Systems - Part 002: Direct Remote identification.
For the UK, your Remote-ID starts with GBR. The first three alphanumeric characters correspond to the EN ISO 3166-1:2020 Alpha-3 code of the Member State of registration and are in upper case only.
The last 3 characters are to be kept for organisation use only and act as a security key.

When is it required?
In the EU, aerial drones need to broadcast your Remote-ID since the 1st January 2024 if they operate in the Specific Category or have a Class Marking (C1-C6).
In the UK, UAVs need to broadcast your remote-ID on 1st January 2026 if they display a UK class mark.
If you operate a legacy drone in the UK, you do not need a Remote-ID before the 1st of January 2028.
We have already integrated Remote-ID to our Dark Matter aircraft for European customers, so if you want more information, please let us know.
The integration is minimalistic, as seen on the picture here.
